Using Crib Bedding Safely
Once you’ve chosen the perfect bedding for your baby’s crib, the last step is being sure you know how to help keep your baby safe while using the crib. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, there are some simple steps you can take to help create a safe environment while your baby is sleeping. They recommend that you remove soft bedding, including bumper pads, quilts and comforters before your baby is put down in the crib. One suggestion is to use either a sleeper, or a sleep sack instead of a thin blanket. If you are using a thin blanket, they suggest tucking the blanket under the mattress and only placing the blanket as high as your baby’s chest to keep him from becoming entangled in the blanket.
